We are very saddened to learn of the passing of Dr Elizabeth Teague, a staunch friend to EHRAC and to justice and fairness in Russia over the years.
Dr Teague began her career as a Soviet affairs Analyst at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, before moving to The Hague to work as an advisor to the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, and an analyst at the Jamestown Foundation.
From 1997 until 2012, she was a research analyst on Russian domestic and foreign policy with the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, working in British embassies in Moscow and Minsk. She was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2012.
Elizabeth has served as an Advisory Board member at EHRAC for many years. We remember her for her warmth and kindness and she will be greatly missed by our team.
“Elizabeth was a treasured member of the EHRAC Advisory Board from its inception and was active until very recently,” said Samantha Knights QC, chair of EHRAC’s Advisory Board.
“She was a mine of knowledge and insight about the region EHRAC work in, a delightful, supportive and warm colleague, and it was a great pleasure to have worked alongside her on the Board. We shall all miss her greatly.”
