EHRAC has announced that Jessica Gavron and Laure Trebosc have been appointed as its new co-Directors.
In October 2021, EHRAC’s founding Director, Philip Leach, announced his intention to step down after 18 years, to enable a smooth transition to a new leadership team.
“We are delighted to succeed Philip as co-Directors, and look forward to further developing EHRAC’s vital work: supporting human rights defenders; ensuring access to justice for victims of human rights violations; and striving to raise human rights standards and protections across our region and beyond.
“2022 was a traumatic year for our region. The evolving challenges mean that EHRAC’s work, and the work of our courageous partners, is more important than ever.
“We approach our twentieth anniversary in a strong position, and thank you for your ongoing support.”

The new co-Directors can both draw on a long involvement with EHRAC’s work and region.
Jess has led EHRAC’s litigation team since 2012. A UK barrister, she has litigated cases on behalf of hundreds of victims of gross human rights violations across EHRAC’s region.
Laure joined EHRAC in 2014, having worked for NGOs and international organisations in Russia and Ukraine. She has been central to the development of EHRAC’s Programme.
