Third CPT report on Georgia



The European Convention for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment was adopted in 1987 as an adjunct to the protection available to detainees under the ECHR. It entered into force in October 2000. On 25 October 2007, the CPT published its third report on Georgia, observing a number of problematic issues including overcrowding, poor sanitation and a lack of healthcare provisions in detention facilities.
