Tender for EHRAC website re-development
Closing date: 28 Aug 2020
We are looking for an experienced agency or individual developer with a background in charity web design to refresh EHRAC’s out-dated WordPress website.
We expect the development process to be fully participative, with regular contact between the EHRAC team and the chosen agency or individual developer in order to assess project progress so that the project can be delivered on time and on brief.
The European Human Rights Advocacy Centre (EHRAC) is an independent human rights centre based at Middlesex University, London. We use international legal mechanisms to challenge serious human rights abuses in Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, in partnership with local lawyers and NGOs. We aim to secure justice for victims of human rights violations and their families and bring about lasting systemic change in the region.
We build and strengthen the expertise of human rights lawyers and NGOs operating in challenging circumstances by providing long-term legal mentoring, bespoke training, and ongoing advice and support. Working in close collaboration, we take ground-breaking cases on behalf of vulnerable and marginalised communities. We set new international legal precedents which improve human rights standards, and advocate to ensure that state authorities fulfil their human rights obligations.
EHRAC’s WordPress website (ehrac.org.uk) is approximately six years old and is in serious need of a refresh. It no longer accurately represents the scope and scale of EHRAC’s litigation, capacity-building and advocacy work. We want our website to better reflect the work that we do, and to function as an easy-to-use resource repository for human rights lawyers and activists in our target region and beyond.
We have identified a number of key actions that we wish to implement regarding our website:
- Overhaul the website homepage and menu-bar;
- Include prominent, thematic “areas of litigation” pages;
- Develop discrete page for our advocacy work surrounding Azerbaijan human rights defenders;
- Improve the usability of EHRAC’s Resource Library and website’s general search functions;
- More closely integrate the website with its Russian-language subdomain (ru.ehrac.org.uk);
- Incorporate prominent fundraising calls and mailing list sign-up forms;
- Implement other structural changes required for UX purposes.
Please note, we are not seeking ongoing hosting or maintenance support services.
How to apply:
Proposals must be submitted by Friday 28th August 2020 for the attention of James Dowsett to firstname.lastname@example.org. Before submitting a proposal, please send James an introductory email and we will send you a full brief outlining our action points for the website redevelopment project in greater detail.
As part of your proposal, please include:
- Planned actions for the outlined points above.
- Details of a proposed timetable for the work.
- Detailed breakdown of costing of the work.
- Any examples/case studies of similar projects delivered in the past.
EHRAC’s website was originally intended as a resource library for (specifically) human rights lawyers and (more generally) human rights defenders. These groups remain our primary audience, but we also wish to appeal to an interested public, new supporters, and prospective donors.
Our website is also extensively utilised for internal purposes.
We envisage the project to take no more than 2-3 months.
Our budget range is between £5k – £12k. We will be commissioning on the basis of the best value for money.
The deadline for submitting proposals is Friday 28th August 2020. A decision will be made within 1-2 weeks of the deadline date. Shortlisted agencies or individual developers will be invited to have a phone call or video chat after the closing date.
