EHRAC at the BEARR Trust Annual Conference
EHRAC’s Legal Officer, Kate Levine, gave a fascinating talk at the BEARR Trust Annual Conference yesterday. She discussed the legal issues arising from Russia’s 2012 law on “foreign agents”, making particular reference to social welfare and healthcare NGOs, the kind of organisations with which the BEARR Trust usually works. The talk was extremely well received, and provoked lively discussion within the audience. One attendee even had a “eureka moment” when Kate talked about the political implications of such a law!
Other speakers at the Conference included those working in NGOs in Russia, Ukraine, Georgia and Azerbaijan, who shared their varying experiences with changing government rules and regulations.
