Russian state agents responsible for disappearance, detention and presumed death of 14 men from North Caucasus
The European Court of Human Rights ruled in a group of cases concerning 14 enforced disappearances, finding the Russian state authorities responsible for their detention and presumed deaths, as well as for the emotional distress caused to their families.

Angela González Carreño v Spanish Ministry of Justice
The applicant, Angela Gonzalez, is a survivor of domestic violence by her former husband. In 1999, she fled the family home with her daughter Andrea, then aged three. Between 1999 and 2001, Angela lodged no fewer than 30 complaints against her husband to the police for threatening and physically abusing her.

Mariya Alekhina and others (Pussy Riot) v Russia
The applicants – Mariya Alekhina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Yekaterina Samutsevich – are members of Pussy Riot, a Russian feminist punk band critical of the Kremlin and its connections with the Orthodox church. Five members of the band attempted to perform a protest song in Moscow’s Christ the Saviour Cathedral.

The applicants are former citizens of the Soviet Union who moved to the Russian Federation from Kyrgyzstan and Georgia (both former Soviet countries).
