UN Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review – Russian Federation
In February 2009, the UN Human Rights Council conducted its review of the human rights records of all UN Member States. The report is based on information available in official UN documents, as well as submissions from stakeholders including NGOs, with the Russian State also submitting a report. A number of recommendations were made in the final report, including improving prison conditions, promoting freedom of assembly and providing access to the North Caucasus for certain UN delegations.
