Seeking remedy and the last hope for returning home
In the 17 years since the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resulted in the forced displacement of ethnic Armenians from Azerbaijan, none of the more than 330,000 affected have been able to return to their homes. Since 2002, when the ECHR entered into force in Azerbaijan, the ECtHR has represented a last hope for those displaced by the conflict. In 2006-2007, the Armenian NGO Legal Guide submitted roughly 500 applications to the ECtHR on this subject.
