Freedom of expression in Azerbaijan under test: challenges and prospects
The case of Fatullayev v Azerbaijan highlights a number of issues relating to freedom of expression in the country, including the use of charges of criminal defamation against journalists. Although the ECtHR ordered Fatullayev’s immediate release, at the time of writing the Azerbaijani government has yet to execute the judgement.
