First Chechen cases declared admissible by European Court of Human Rights
In December 2002 the ECtHR declared admissible the cases of six applicants alleging violations of their rights under the ECHR by Russian military in Chechnya between 1999 and 2000. The cases relate to allegations of indiscriminate bombing, and torture and murder by members of the Russian armed forces, resulting in violations of Art. 2, 3, 13 and Art. 1 of Protocol 1.
