ECtHR considers new practices
The ECtHR is faced with a enormous and ever-increasing workload. The number of cases pending before the Court – now at 82,100 – is projected to rise to 250,000 by 2010. The Council of Europe has established the Group of Wise Persons (GWP) to secure the long-term effectiveness of the European Convention on Human Rights. They published their Interim Report in May 2006 to set out provisional guidelines.
