Liliya Aliyeva, Jackie Finn and Aleksandra Cyganik have been collaborating with EHRAC\u2019s lawyers for the past six months, alongside studying for their LLM at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mdx.ac.uk\/courses\/law\">Law School<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The abovementioned cases relate to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ehrac.wpengine.com\/resources\/at-risk-of-extinction-independent-civil-society-in-azerbaijan\/\">recent crackdown on civil society organisations<\/a>\u00a0and human rights defenders by the Azerbaijani government. The three students have been researching human rights violations in Azerbaijan, as well as drafting a summary of politically motivated arrests and detentions which will be used in cases relating to these events at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).<\/p>\n<div class=\"primary\">\n<blockquote><p>\n<em>Working on the recent ECtHR case added valuable experience to our\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mdx.ac.uk\/courses\/postgraduate\/llm\"><em>LLM programme at Middlesex University<\/em><\/a><em>. It also gave us practical knowledge on the current human rights issues in the Caucasus region, which is essential for our future career goals.<\/em>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The students, on their experience of working with EHRAC<\/p>\n<p>The research conducted by Liliya, Jackie and Aleksandra is very valuable for EHRAC\u2019s case work at the European Court.
